Cycling Byroads
Killarney and the surrounding area has a wealth of cycle paths and byroads ideally suited to both the casual cyclist and the hardened professional. Killarney National Park and Muckross House grounds offers routes that vary from flat, undulating to mountainous. From Muckross House it is possible to cycle around Muckross Lake, a fairly flat route and a distance of about 21km. Or, for the more adventurous, a ride to the top of Torc Waterfall requires a little more effort. For those that like to venture further, take the Kenmare road to Molls Gap, and then through the Gap of Dunloe via the Black Valley and back to Killarney. Or maybe spend a couple of days cyling around the Ring of Kerry. Which ever routes you choose, you will be presented with the beauty and grandeur of Kerry, with lakes and mountains while passing ruined castles, ancient burial grounds, standing stones, sub-tropical plants and much more.
